That’s great! You have selected the best marketing option. Email marketing is the best option to promote your services/products. I understand that you have obtained a paid email list. Generally, a paid list is only useful if you have relevant recipients who are interested in your product.

Yes, cleaning the email list is most essential. The list may contain incorrect, incomplete, disposable etc email addresses. Sending emails to such addresses will increase the bounce rate of your email campaign and it will affect the mail server reputation.

Now, let us see how does it help:

  • It removes improperly formatted email addresses.
  • It verifies the DNS of the domain associated with the email addresses. If it has invalid/missing MX, the process marks the email address as invalid.
  • It detects the disposable email addresses (DEA) and removes from the list.
  • It detects honeypots, BOTs, spam seeds, blacklisted or bogus addresses. And many more..

It is quite an easy to clean up the email list. There are lots of providers in the market who offer bulk email verification services. If you search for the best email address verification provider on the Internet, you will be overwhelmed with lots of options. But, here is the detailed information on the best 10 bulk email verification services providers. Select the best option for cleaning your email list and enjoy higher delivery rate for your emails which will ultimately help you increase your sales.

It is most definitely required.

Please 1) Try to avoid buying any list. Why? Because there are many threats that could be lurking in that list such as spam traps, moles, honeypots, seeded trackers, screamers, disposable domains and much more just waiting to ruin your sender reputation and send you to a blacklist. Which means you wont be allowed to send anymore. Also none of these people opt in to receive your emails.

It is absolutely best to start from scratch and build a list.

Hi Hardik,

You have chosen one of the best marketing channels, BUT purchasing an email list is not something recommended. Why is that? Because is harder to educate people about your business than to make them subscribe to your newsletter.

One of my friends told me that I should clean up the email list before sending them marketing emails. I am not sure if this is really required?

Your friend was right, you should clean your list before sending any email if you care about your reputation and if you don't want to be blocked by the ESP.

How should I do that?

The easiest and fastest way to do that is by using an email validation service. Be sure you choose a provider with a good reputation, who allows you to test the service before subscribing to a plan and who offers as many features as possible. One of the few providers who has all I mentioned above is Verifalia: they have a free plan which allows you to validate up to 25 emails each day, they have a good reputation + their features list is huge: https://verifalia.com/how-it-works#features
